Brevard County is also known as the Space Coast, home of the John F. Kennedy Space Center, which is how it got its area code 321, as in “3-2-1 takeoff!” Coming in at 1,557 square miles, Brevard County is 1,016 square miles of land and 541 square miles water, for plenty of hunting and fishing, both fresh and salt. The St. Johns River and Indian River Lagoon are hot spots for fishing, hunting and boating. The dry season in Brevard County lasts from December through May and the wet from June through November. The coolest month is January with average temps between 50° and 70° and the warmest months are July & August with temps averaging between 70° and 90°…. not bad for Florida. Brevard County is home to 250 square miles of federally protected wildlife refuges including the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, the Canaveral National Seashore, the Arche Carr National Wildlife Refuge and the St. Johns National Wildlife Refuge, which are home to over 4,000 animal species including deer, hog, gators and turkey. Those of us who call Brevard County home are surrounded by our Country’s Heroes, with 21% of the population over 18 being a veteran. Thank you for your service!
